Hundreds of competitors and spectators are expected to turn out at the third- annual Bowraville Memorial Cup this year.

And among them will be the Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey MP, and special guest, the NSW Minister for Sport, Stuart Ayres MP.

Mrs Pavey said the Memorial Cup event is very important for the community and is thrilled that the Minister for Sport will be attending.

“The Cup was started three years ago to help inclusiveness and opportunity for local young people, and it’s quickly grown into this wonderful event.

“It is an honour to have the Minister for Sport travel with me to Bowraville to attend the Cup; he will see our strong local sporting culture and the wide benefits that it brings for health and well-being.

“Its also an excellent opportunity for myself and another senior Minister of the NSW Government to meet community members and discuss issues, and also to meet with representatives of the many Government agencies who are working to support the community,” Mrs Pavey said.

Besides the schools’ touch-football competition highlight, there will be an array of other entertainment for children and parents, and organisations involved in health, education, youth services and the NDIS will also have stalls to visit and obtain information.

Player registrations start at 8.30 am at Bowraville’s Hennessy Tape Oval and Ministers Pavey and Ayres will be attending from 10.00 am.
