$200 million has been injected into the Barton Highway upgrade, across Federal and State Government funding pools.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Michael McCormack said that investment in the Barton Highway is essential to improve access from regional New South Wales to the Australian Capital Territory.
“The Federal Government is investing an additional $100 million for the Barton Highway under the 2018-19 Budget Roads of Strategic Importance Initiative,” Mr McCormack said.
The briefing allowed industry designers and constructors to discuss opportunities on the Barton ighway improvement work.
“The industry briefing was a perfect opportunity to open productive and innovative conversations about future investment in this significant piece of regional infrastructure,” Mrs Pavey said.
“The 52-kilometre highway connects Central and South-Western NSW to jobs, hospitals and schools. The upgrade will make the journey more efficient and safer for the 12,500 vehicles that travel on the road every day.”
Ms Goward said today’s event helped facilitate engagement with industry to ensure that the local area prospers into the future.
“From planning to completion, the Barton Highway upgrade will deliver 120 jobs to the local community,” Ms Goward said.
